Step 1: Open the Audit Logs Page
- In the left-hand sidebar, click Audits.
- The Audit Logs page will open.
At the top of the page, you’ll see:
- The page title: Audit Logs
- A short description explaining that this page tracks system actions, changes, and events
- The total number of log records in the top-right corner
Step 2: Understand the Audit Logs Table
Each row in the Audit Logs table represents a single system event.
The table includes the following columns:
- Timestamp — the exact date and time the action occurred
- Action — the action performed, displayed as a status tag
- Description — short summary of what happened
- Entity — the record or module affected
- Source — where the action originated
- Performed By — the user who performed the action
- View icon — opens full details of the selected log entry
This gives you a clear record of system activity across AML Guardian.
Step 3: Search for a Specific Log Entry
To find a specific action or event:
- Click the search bar at the top of the page
- Enter a keyword related to the:
- action
- entity
- description
The table will automatically filter matching records as you type.
Step 4: Filter Logs by Date Range
You can narrow down audit logs by date range.
To do this:
- Click the start date field next to the search bar
- Select the beginning of your date range
- Click the end date field
- Select the end of your date range
The audit log table will refresh to show only records that fall within that selected period.
Step 5: View Full Log Details
To inspect a specific log entry:
- Locate the relevant record in the table
- Click the view icon on the right-hand side of the row
A detail window will open showing:
- Action
- Entity
- Performed At
- Performed By
- Description
When finished, click the X in the top-right corner to close the window.
Step 6: Review Detailed Change History for Updated Records
Some audit log entries — especially UPDATED actions — include extra change-tracking information.
When viewing one of these entries, you may also see a Changed Summary section that shows:
- Old Value — the value before the update
- New Value — the value after the update
- Changed Columns — the specific fields that were modified
This is useful when you need to understand:
- what changed
- who changed it
- when the change happened
Step 7: Export Audit Logs
To export the current audit log data:
- Click Export CSV in the top-right corner of the Audit Logs page
- AML Guardian will generate a CSV file containing the current log data
You can then open the CSV in Excel or another spreadsheet tool for:
- offline review
- compliance reporting
- audit evidence
- internal record keeping
When to Use Audit Logs
Audit Logs are useful for:
- reviewing who performed a system action
- checking changes to client or compliance records
- investigating unexpected updates
- preparing for internal or external audits
- exporting evidence for compliance review
